The mounting consequences of climate change are taking their toll on Nigeria, from different angles: desertification in the north, deforestation in the south east, oil pollution and flooding in the south-south and erosion in the middle belt.
Without effective policies in place to mitigate the impacts, the poor and vulnerable are borne with a disproportionate burden. Loss of lives, livelihoods and assets, food insecurity and new deadly health hazards are just the tip of the metaphorical melting iceberg.
SDN collaborated with other civil society groups in Nigeria to produce the documentary ‘Nowhere to Run’. It premiered in Abuja earlier this year, and will hopefully be coming to international film festivals soon. In the meantime, check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts on the issues raised.
