‘This is Bonny, transit town’ is a documentary that shares the experiences of fishermen and women living on Bonny Island, home to Nigeria’s largest export terminal for the oil and gas industry.
The sea, the major source of livelihood for residents of bonny has been taken from them, destroyed by the activities of oil and gas multinationals who operate on the island with disregard to the environmental and economic impact of their activities.
This local community expresses its disillusion with the promise of ‘black gold’ and highlights the comfort they feel it has stolen from them and the heartache it has brought them.
