Defend civic space panel discussion

With recent events such as the #EndSARS, COVID19 lockdown measures, and the Twitter ban rocking Nigeria, we must gauge the effects these events and others have had on civic space in the Niger Delta. Equally we must consider how well civil society can respond to these events in the Niger Delta.

Owing in part to the large oil revenues flowing from the Niger Delta, civil society has been under pressure not to expose poor governance in the region, or increase accountability that could constrain what political leaders can do with their financial power.

In this webinar we hear from civil society leaders discussing the status of civic space in Rivers State, the Niger Delta, and answering your questions. SDN will also introduce for the first time its own research findings on the trends in civic space.
